Hello! I am Lydia!

I grew up in a lovely suburban area surrounded by vegetable farms in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. I love nature and I am nourished by it. I am currently a freelancer . I finished my Bachelor's degree in Taiwan and worked full-time in a landscape company before. I believe that it is the right way to go towards a more sustainable society, so I love to explore and implement a softer design to make a better influence.
I kept thinking about how we can treat our environment better as part of our construction field, then, I chose to study in The University of Auckland in NZ. I I realised that there is no best design but instead an optimised design throughout a whole life cycle. My thesis was looking at the multi-storey timber buildings in urban areas, and I am developing a low-damage envelope design for earthquakes. It was an exciting project that I can address a real problem and combines both architectural and engineering aspects. This project help me understand that every single design can make a big difference in achieving sustainability.
I am an easy-going and energetic person. I love outdoor activities and music. I am passionate to make new friends and explore new places. New challenges can always boost my potential power and inspire me with a brand-new idea. I can concentrate on my work alone while I also like to cooperate with others. I always seek opportunities to make some contribution to our societies. I have experienced many failures in my life, however, they just made me stronger. If I feel something is meaningful and right, I will continue to try my best. It is always good to keep learning, embrace new ideas and broaden perspectives throughout my life.
