Creating a second home for local residents in a bustling tourist area.
Chikanlou Cultural District is famous for the integration of history, culture, tourism and residence. The cultural and creative industries have flourished here recently. All of these activities are inevitable to interfere with the residents.

" Tainan Chikanlou (Chihkanlou) was built by the Dutch in 1653. It was originally called Provintia. In Dutch, it means eternity. "
Chikanlou (Chihkanlou) has gone through the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty and the Japanese Colonisation Period. The current appearance passed down with Qing Dynasty's style.
Because of its special location, it was an administrative and economic centre in the past.
And now, it is a popular tourist spot.
It was a lagoon centuries ago.

Design Thinking
A waved shape to reflect the forgotten lagoon and history.
In order to separate the private and public areas, there are different circulations with sharing outdoor terraces. The shape of the slopes are based on the needed connection between specific volumes. It provides a fantastic space for tracing history.
